We never outgrow our need to turn to others during times of stress and distress. The team at Aspen Grove knows that life happens in the 167 hours a week that you are not in therapy. We collected the following resources for you to access when you are in need of extra support between your regularly scheduled visits.

Places to go when you are feeling alone: 

National Alliance on Mental Illness has a wealth of resources from education on mental health to opportunities to join a range of support groups. Sometimes connection begins with better understand of where we are in life and what we are looking for.
TalkLife is the world’s largest global peer support network for mental health providing connection for anyone battling with the ups and downs of life. At TalkLife you can find someone to talk to in real time about the struggles you may share. It is an opportunity for immediate connection and communication about anything from emotional distress, a break-up, or work stressors. 
Peanut is an app specifically designed for mothers. Its goal is to allow mothers to easily connect and learn from other women who live nearby and have similar interests. Through this app, you are able to chat, plan meet-ups, and connect on meaningful topics on your own time.

The Trevor Project is an online community designed to offer connection and support to teens and young adults who identify as a member of the LGBTQI+ community as well as those who are questioning. Based on the principles of love and inclusion, The Trevor Project offers not only suicide prevention resources but also crisis support, advocacy, research, and education.

Planned Parenthood has a large collection of online sexual and reproductive health information for LGBTQI+. Additionally, they launched a chatbot, Roo, which individuals of any orientation and gender can use to ask questions about their body, sex, or relationships in a confidential way.

Places to go when you are feeling unsure of yourself: 

Self-Compassion by Kristin Neff offers not only education and workshops designed to target increasing self-compassion, but her website also includes a series of free guided meditations and self-compassion exercises to practice whenever you are in need of extra support.
Tara Brach shares meditations and teachings that are organized around a range of common topics from anger to embodied presence and everything in between. On her website, you will find a list of resources specifically targeted to address whatever problem you may be facing in that moment. 
Brene Brown:  Why Your Critics Aren’t The Ones Who Count Brene Brown is a social worker and shame researcher who has one of the most-watched TEDTalks of all-time.  At Aspen Grove Wellness, we recommend her books and talks with our whole heart!
